Workshops

September 9th – HalfDay – Morning

Workshop A

Time: 09:00 – 12:00
Location: 2A.012
Organisers: Hazel M. Taylor, Marie Farrell, Yasmeen Rafiq
Title: Towards Effective Human–Robot Teamwork
Website: https://hmt2.github.io/Towards-Effective-Human-Robot-Teamwork-TAROS
Overview: This workshop explores how Human–Robot teams are designed and implemented in real-world scenarios. The workshop will include invited talks and poster presentations from diverse sectors, including aerospace, nuclear, autonomous systems, and healthcare. The workshop aims to identify transferable principles and foster discussion on designing safe and effective Human-Robot teamwork interactions. Since Human-Robot teamwork is an emerging application of autonomy, we aim to produce a whitepaper discussing different teamwork scenarios that can be used to guide practitioners and researchers alike. One of the key objectives of the workshop is to assemble a list of use cases in Human-Robot teaming which will provide a foundation for designing Human-Robot teams. The whitepaper will be submitted to the ACM Transactions on HRI journal.

Workshop B

Time: 09:00 – 12:00
Location: 2A.011
Organisers: Samuele Vinanzi, Muhammad Aitsam, Marjory Da Costa-Abreu, Imene Tarakli, and Federico Tavella
Title: Human-robot Alignment and Reliable Trustworthiness (HART)
Website: https://sites.google.com/view/hart-workshop-taros-2026/home
Overview: As robots increasingly operate alongside people in open-ended environments, ensuring alignment with human values and calibrated trust has become a core technical requirement. Yet the communities working on robot learning, human-robot interaction, and AI alignment remain fragmented, with inconsistent measurement practices and absent dynamic trust benchmarks. The HART workshop brings together researchers from these communities to establish shared vocabulary, compare evaluation approaches, and identify research directions for building reliable, aligned robotic systems. Through keynote, paper presentations, and structured discussion, the workshop will surface open problems and produce a post-workshop white paper summarising priority direction for trustworthy human-robot collaboration.

September 9th – HalfDay – Afternoon

Workshop C

Time: 13:15 – 16:15
Location: 2A.011
Organisers: Letícia Mara Berto, Marco Gabriele Fedozzi, Renan Lima Baima
Title: AI:CogDev @ TAROS: Designing Intelligent Minds
Website: https://sites.google.com/view/aicogdev-workshop/home
Overview: This half-day workshop aims to introduce key concepts and methods in Cognitive and Developmental Robotics to the TAROS community in a practical and accessible format. The workshop is organised around five guided blocks that cover foundational concepts, core cognitive-robotic elements, practical design choices, an interactive group activity, and an invited keynote on implementation challenges and future directions. It targets students, early-career researchers, and practitioners interested in how developmental principles such as embodiment, sensorimotor learning, curiosity, and social interaction can inform the design of autonomous robotic systems. By combining conceptual framing with practice-oriented discussion, the workshop aims to lower the barrier to entry to CogDevRob and foster exchange between robotics, AI, cognitive science, and developmental learning
